There’s nothing wrong with the basic ‘yearbook’ formula. But a yearbook can be so much more.

Zest is the 2016 yearbook of YK Pao School’s secondary campus. The project challenged to change what a yearbook can mean to its readers by avoiding the basic ‘yearbook formula’ of portraits and documentary photos.  Instead, Zest attempts to capture the positive attitude, appreciation and curiosity of the community.

From group selfies taken after a campus-wide colour-fight to the strong optical contrast between the matte-black cover and neon-pink pages, colour acted as a central idea of the layout concept to fully capture and express the emotions of zest.
